The Koala Bear's Last Hope

In NSW alone during the 2019-2020 bushfires 6,000 koalas were killed. Not only is their population at risk from climate change and loss of habitat due to deforestation their population is slowly recovering and efforts are being made to ensure this species is not taken away from us. Unfortunately Australia is at the front of loss of animals being the highest loss of mammal species anywhere in the world. This is extremely sad and action must be taken before we lose any more of our native wildlife. In Australia we are lucky to have certain places such as Taronga Zoo located here in Sydney, they are working on establishing breeding programs to help restore the population and ensure the species keeps its numbers high.
